In 1998, something happened that would change the world forever - the Change. It left the world without any functioning modern technology. Admist the ruins of the world, few survived, and fewer became leaders of men.

Three such leaders were Juniper Mackenzie, Mike Havel and Norman Arminger. Of these, only Juniper is still alive in 2008, Mike having killed Arminger to avert a major war and dying from fatal wounds recieved in the fearsome duel.

Nowadays, everyone is recovering from what would have been a deadly war, but someone is sowing seeds of discord and there is talk of a crusade against the Mackenzies and their Wiccan ways.

MacKenzie Lands
[ ]Dun Juniper (1 sub-board)
This is the capital of the Mackenzie lands, a fortress made from tamped earth, ferro-concrete and timber walls, similar to those of the Celts in long gone days.

It is the religious capital as well as the home of the Mackenzie Clan's leader, Juniper Mackenzie

[ ]Sutterdown
The Mackenzie's only town, this is a might fortress in itself, surrounded on three sides by a river and on the other by a large moat. Its towers contain dart throwers capable of terrorising any invading army.

[ ]MacKenzie Owned Countryside
Mainly hilly country and forests, this type of land is perfect for the guerrilla still tactics of MacKenzie warriors.

The majority of the usable land is taken up by farms, or related buildings.

Bearkiller Lands
[ ]Larsdalen
The might fortress of the Bearkillers, with thick concrete and boulder walls and a gate that is impenetrable, even to the mightiest weapons.

This is the home of Signe Havel and her family.

[ ]Surrounding Countryside
The Bearkiller's land is general flatter than the MacKenzie's, which suits their tactics just fine. Here you will find more taverns than on MacKenzie lands.

Stay clear of the more arrogant A-listers and you'll do all right.

[ ]Mithrilwood
This is the homeland of the Dunedain, the mysterious nation of rangers who keep unoccupied land free from bandits or who protect merchants for a fee.

Corvallis
[ ]Corvallis
Here is the might fortress of Corvallis, with walls larger than any city outside of the Protectorate. You are not allowed weapons her with blades longer that 10 inches (25 cm for metric people).

This city is the most technologically advanced in the state, maybe even the whole of the United States.

[ ]Corvallen Farmland
Corvallis undoubted has the largest amount of farmland outside of the Protectorate, the only difference being that those who work on the have the choice about whether they do so or not.

The Portland Protection Association
[ ]Portland
Portland is the capital of the Protectorate and is undoubtedly the largest, most grand city in the state. This massive city contains the residence of Lady Protector Sarah Arminger. You really, really, don't want to come face to face with her.
Moderator: Dougal
00
[ ]Oregon City
This is one of the Protectorate's larger cities and the main location of its river troops. It is also a flourishing inland port.
Moderator: Dougal
00
[ ]Castle Todenangst
The second grandest castle in the protectorate and the most secure, this is the part-time residence of Sarah Arminger. Once again, behave in this city unless you want to answer to her.
Moderator: Dougal
00
[ ]Farmland
As you follow the road through this farmland, you will see serfs in iron chains and rags working the fields alongside with free men who are in slightly better clothes.

Who knows, you might even see a knight or a Baron.

Mount Angel
[ ]Abbey
The Mount Angel Abbey is a fortress to behold, impregnable to even the Protectorate's army in its high of power, it is a place of worship and solitude, home to warrior monks and nuns.

It also has one of the largest libraries around.
Moderator: Dougal

[ ]Mount Angel Town
The town of Mount Angel is less imposing that the abbey, but it is still a tough nut to crack. It is home to some of the best artesians in the state.

Other Places of Interest

These roads crisscross lands both claimed and unclaimed and are the homes of traveling salesmen and mercenaries alike.
Moderator: Dougal
00
[ ]Unclaimed Land
This land, while it may be within the boundaries of a certain nation, has not been claimed and cleared for farming yet. This makes the ideal hide out for bandits and wild animals. Pray that you never have to come here alone.
